Jim has been an important advocate for people with disabilities for many years. Retired from the DuPont Company as Executive Vice President in 1991, Jim’s leadership roles within Easter Seals, Christiana Health Care Systems, and the Independence School demonstrate his commitment to making the world a better place for children and adults in need. Jim has served as both Board Chairman and Capital Campaign Chairman and has been instrumental in the success of Exceptional Care for Children.
William A. Peterson, LNHA
Administrator
Bill oversees the day-to-day operations of Exceptional Care for Children and provides the overall strategic vision to the organization. With 25 years experience in the healthcare industry, he brings a broad range of management experience to the facility. A member of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, Bill has been with Exceptional Care for Children since its opening in February 2006.
Susan B Foster, BSN
Director of Nursing
Susan oversees the clinical operations at Exceptional Care for Children and works with the nursing team to ensure that the highest quality of care is consistently achieved for every patient and family. Susan draws on her neonatal and pediatric nursing experiences and her human resources background to promote Exceptional Care for Children to nursing professionals, the community and the families we serve. Susan has been with Exceptional Care since it’s opening in February 2006.
Kareylenn Hammond, MSW
Director of Social Services
Kareylenn is the first person a new family meets at Exceptional Care for Children and is responsible for the social and educational needs of our children. She also works within and beyond the walls of Exceptional Care for Children to coordinate social services for each new family. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she completed her internship at A.I. DuPont Hospital and has extensive experience as a medical assistant and as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). Kareylenn joined the staff in May 2006.
